burroughs 4Dusty texas heartland. A hint of water over yander. The cows bang their horns and the handler and I sit in a ditch hiding.  
 
He doesn’t want to be here, hasn’t been in the field for so long, but feels the need to tutor me. I feel that he is oblivious to me. I am getting it.

The Handler   
That’s what I call him. He has no name, no name given to me, no name given to any agent. His history is shrouded in multitude stories of debauched drinking, sex, drugs; some true, most not, all leading to his impenetrable cover.  
 
His latest cover: a ten-buck hooker, worn of face, sagging but tempting enough for a trashed, buzzed agent. As a good agent I wasn’t shocked as he slathered over my drunken body, grinding like a good whore, platitudes in my ear, getting me to spill quickly and then onwards to her nex burroughs 2
